The polytunnel is a very useful facility to have however it is difficult to manage it proficiently and effectively for a variety of uses, especially if access to it is restricted. Restrictions might include time; usually, I would only be able to tend to the tunnel for a brief period, 30-45minutes, in the morning on a working weekday - followed by a session in the evening, after work. Controlling temperature, humidity, light levels and ventilation within those time constraints is difficult - and more so if the weather changes during the day. The COVID19 lockdown has altered the restrictions on polytunnel use however the unusually dry, sunny, warm weather this April has exacerbated problems to do with over-heating - especially if there is a lot of sunshine but a cold easterly wind, and relatively low nighttime temperatures.
