Friday 20th March, 2020.

The willow dome treehouse blossoming, and glowing with its arboreal neighbours,
the oak and limes, in the late afternoon sunshine.

If I had to choose just one picture for each visit to the allotment garden of Nowhere in particular - then the picture above is the one for Friday 20th March. I chose it for Sabrina, who joined in with the gardening here over the autumn and winter, before returning to Cyprus. Sabrina lent me a copy of, The Hidden Life of Trees, by Peter Wohlleben, before leaving, and as soon as I have returned from re-reading, News from Nowhere, I will start reading that. In the roving company of William Guest, we have not yet reached the chapter, How the Change Came, that might explain some of what happened to bring about the waking dream of Nowhere.

 Marsh Marigold - Caltha palustris.

The honey bees were busy about the marsh marigolds blooming through the remains of last year's bulrushes.

A top and A bottom

The spread of Covid19 and the new government measures to increase social distancing and self-isolation have precipitated some changes to how I planned to cultivate the plots this year. I may also be out of paid employment soon - temporarily or otherwise. I hope I will be able to continue gardening here and have set about trying to adapt to the situation.

Here is a plant I have identified as:
Red Dead Nettle - Lamium purpureum.

If I have identified that plant correctly, then it is harvestable as a salad - a food for free?
It is also valuable late winter/early spring forage for pollinators.
