Plots A and B - bottom

B - bottom - pruning work on willow trees

Willow - 14/12/2019

the main purpose of the cutting back and pruning is to
reduce the amount of shade on Plot B - top & bottom.

Trees and large shrubs on
the allotment garden of Nowhere in particular
2020

One of the features of this allotment, that makes it 'particular' or peculiar, is the abundance of large trees and shrubs growing on and immediately around the site. Some of the trees are relatively large - an oak growing in a neighbouring garden immediately to the north of the site. Several of the apple and hawthorn trees are large - growing to 5m tall (when unpruned). The willow (16), pruned today, had grown very tall - perhaps to 7m - and would have created a lot of shade over Plots B top and bottom. It was cut back/pruned substantially so as to reduce it to a large shrub. The willow dome tree house (6) will not be pruned as much so that the habitat it provides is maintained.
