Green manures, blackberries and Kheera cucumbers in 'the allotment garden of Nowhere in particular'

BUCKWHEAT - GREEN MANURE
15/7/17 - A1c - Buckwheat, sown in early June
following peas and broad beans.
Soya beans in foreground + phacelia, mustard and tubing mix in A1a & A1b.

Buckwheat, chopped up finely and uprooted -

- and left as a mulch.



BLACKBERRY
Blackberry hedge following some thinning out of this years new growth.

First ripe fruits

New flowers.



BRUSSELS SPROUTS - UNDER-SOWN WITH BUCKWHEAT
15/7/17 - A2c - Globe artichokes and brussels sprouts under-sown with buckwheat
The flower heads of the globe artichokes have been harvested.
The globe artichokes need an additional feed and mulch as well as dividing.

Buckwheat pulled up and left as a mulch

Some buckwheat left to flower and seed.



 

TUBINGEN MIX - GREEN MANURE
15/7/17 - A2b - Tubingen Mix, with brassicas.
Following cauliflowers (All Year Round)
Chopped up and left as a mulch.



15/7/17 - A3b - Black Japanese Oats/Tubingen Mix and Kheera Cucumbers.

TUBINGEN MIX & BLACK JAPANESE OATS
Tubingen Mix - most of it chopped down and left as a mulch.

Kheera Cucumbers - first attempt at growing these - in polytunnel and outdoors.
Sourced from Heritage Seed Library.
Some are over-ripe - yellow ones to right hand side.
Signs of powdery mildew on leaves.
